Anne Frank should not be on this list. She was a minor who was murdered and never had the time to fully come to understand her sexuality.

And it’s inappropriate to label her when she did not have the power to find her own label.

I understand the sentiment of wanting to make sure history is written properly, but I suspect those parts of her diary – if she had lived – would’ve never seen the light of day. Would you want someone reading your deep most inner thoughts about your exploration of sexuality? Even if she had plans to publish her diary after the war, she would’ve been in full control of what was published.

But she was the victim of a horrific chapter in history and the control she had over her diary was taken. And we should respect that history and not project our own desires on her – especially as someone who was still basically a child.

So please please please, stop including Anne Frank in these lists!!
